The Social Diary is set to be the hottest site in the events, dining and drinking realm. It is the go-to site for the go-to places. Follow them on Insta @thesocialdiary and keep your eyes peeled for the imminent launch of their website!
Below is a TEN exclusive of their debut #OnTheCoast article about none other than Bournemouth’s LEVEL8IGHT Sky Bar at the Hilton.
The Social Diary reached new heights at the Hilton Bournemouth; we enjoyed an abundant cocktail menu and snacked on tasty tapas whilst overlooking Bournemouth’s skyline at LEVEL8IGHT – we didn’t even know Bournemouth had a skyline until we were elevated eight floors high above the seaside city.
LEVEL8IGHT is the highest bar in the South West, both physically and in luxurious, contemporary elegance. Whilst, we at The Social Diary love the South Coast and the places it hosts, we believe it lacks a bar in the centre that offers accessible affluence. LEVEL8IGHT might just be what we are looking for; with lavish interiors exuberating deep colours combined with gold and brass giving an art deco feel, chandeliers cascading above the bar and a extensive terrace overlooking the concrete shopping jungle and reaching dramatic coastal views – it certainly looks the part.
The bar offers a sizeable range of different beverages, but we stuck to the wide-ranging cocktail menu. The cocktails’’ names are personalised to the city in which it resides, coastal devotion is embedded in their menu such as the ‘Sloop Inn Daiquiri’ and ‘Bournemouth Pier Martini.’ Classics have been given their own seaside twist; for example, the ‘Pine A Colada’ is infused with fresh sea air and pine.
Between us, we managed to get through the Pine A Colada, Café Con Leche, Bournemouth Pier Martini, Samphire and Sea Lavender Martini, L8 Fizz, Pornstar Martini (not actually on the menu) and Rosie benefitted from a cocktail personalised to her specific taste. This is definitely a desirable quality as a modified menu may appear daunting to those who are loyal to their classics. Don’t fret; the talented mixers behind the bar are ready to tailor to your taste.
Instafans, you will be pleased to know there are lots of photo opportunities! Whether it includes you posing in the midst of the gorgeous interiors, a candid shot of you enjoying the remarkable views, a foodie photo or a collection of cocktail photography of the incredibly photogenic beverages – Rosie’s Bournemouth Pier Martini was accessorised with candyfloss and Alice-Victoria was definitely getting her 5 a day with her Pine a Colada. The only disappointment when it comes to photo taking opportunities was the bathroom – where are the floor length mirrors for our fabulous outfits? I guess a photo in one of the deep teal sofa booths or deluxe caged chairs will have to suffice.
In terms of food, LEVEL8IGHT offers Afternoon Tea and Tapas. We snacked on Salt and Pepper Fried Squid, Truffled Polenta Chips, Cured Salmon, Cucumber & Sour Cream and Crab Tacos with Spring Onion and Coriander. All the dishes that we tried were extremely well presented and delicious, we just wished there was more choice! However, any carefully prepared and cooked food is a bonus because the average ‘punters’ sole reasoning for going to a bar is for a drink. We can’t wait to go back to try the Champagne Afternoon Tea!
That’s all you’re going to get for today! To see the full post, including Alice-Victoria’s and Rosie’s star ratings you’re going to have to wait for The Social Diary‘s launch!
